We have a lot of family who live out of state. The cost of shipping heavy gifts to all of them can really add up! So a lot of times we fall back on sending them gift cards. A gift card can make for a pretty boring gift, so I do like to make a unique gift card holder to package it.
This fun gift card pouch takes just a few minutes to make and is a cute way to make your Christmas gift a little more special. Your gift card will be disguised in a unique holder that looks like Santa’s suit.

Cut the cardstock:
- red: 6″ X 6″
- red: 4″ X 1-3/4″
- black: 9-1/2″ X 1-1/4″
- black: 1-1/4″ X 1-1/4″
- white: 3-1/8″ X 1/2″
- gold foil: 2″ X 1-3/4″
Form the gift card base:
Insert the 6″ red square into the envelope punch board. Line up the edge at 2-5/8″ and punch. Use the scoring tool included with your punch board to score along the diagonal line. Rotate the square 90 degrees counter-clockwise, lining up with the with the arrow on the punch board. Punch and score. Repeat for the last two sides.
Flip the score board around and use the corner rounder to round all the flaps.
Fold each flap in and press your finger along the lines to make the folds crisp.
With the flaps folded in, turn the gift card holder over and adhere the white strip down the center. This will be the white fur on Santa’s coat.
Make the gift card pouch:
Take the other red piece and use a ruler to make a small pencil mark at the center (2″) of the long edge. Insert the piece into your 2″ circle punch about 1/2 inch in, with the center mark lining up with the center of the circle. Punch out a notch. This will make removing the gift card easier.
Using black ink, stamp Merry Christmas on the pouch.
Turn the piece over and add glue around 3 of the sides, leaving the notched side for the opening. Adhere the piece to the center of the gift card holder.
Assemble Santa’s belt:
Place the long edge of the black strip at the top of a scoring board and score at 3″ and 7-3/8″. Fold the two sides to the back. There should be a slight overlap. Add adhesive to the adhesive to the overlapping area and press the two ends together, forming the band.
Turn the band to the front and adhere the gold rectangle to the center. Add the smaller black rectangle to the center of the gold rectangle. If desired, add a rhinestone to the center.
Add the gift card to the pouch and fold the flaps in before placing the band around the gift card holder. With that your DIY Santa suit gift card holder is all ready to give to a loved one or friend this Christmas!
