Cut 2 shamrock pieces according to the pattern above.

stitch a shamrock from plastic canvas

Stitch one shamrock according to the pattern as shown.

stitch a plastic canvas shamrock

For the other shamrock, stitch on the reverse side, using continental stitches to fill it like you did with the front side.

So you will be stitching one with the stem bending off to the left and one with the stem bending off to the right. After you have stitched both pieces, set them aside. We will be finishing the edges a little later.

Cut a plastic canvas circle to make the wind spinner

Using a plastic canvas circle, cut a strip that is 2 holes wide by 100 holes around. Repeat for the remaining 2 circles.
You will also need to cut out the center circle as shown. Cut out the crossbars in the very center. You only need one of these center pieces.

Stitch the spoke on the plastic canvas wind spinner

Using the continental stitch and white yarn, stitch down the center of the spoke.

Overcast both long edges, leaving the 2 holes on each end un-stitched. Repeat for the remaining 2 spokes.

Assembling the plastic canvas shamrock wind spinner

Add ribbon to your plastic canvas wind spinner

Cut (3) 4 foot lengths of the gold ribbon. Group the ribbon together and fold in half. Put the loop through the key ring. Run the ribbon ends over the key ring and through the loop. Pull tight to secure.

add pony beads to the plastic canvas wind spinner

String 6 pony beads on the ribbons, alternating between green and white.

Adding the spokes to the plastic canvas wind spinner

You are now going to secure each spoke of the spinner to the beads using 2 ribbons per spoke. Thread a needle with 1 of the ribbons and loop twice through one of the holes of the top edge of the spoke. Thread a needle with another ribbon and loop twice through the remaining hole. Pull tight to secure right next to the beads.

Assembling the plastic canvas wind spinner

Repeat the process with the remaining ribbons and spokes. You want to make sure the spokes are all curving in the same direction.

assembling the plastic canvas wind spinner

Gather the ribbons back together and thread 6 more beads, alternating between green and white.

Stitching the plastic canvas shamrock

Place both shamrock pieces together, wrong sides inward. Using green yarn, whipstitch around half of the shamrock. You will need to either start stitching at either the middle of the top or the middle of the stem at the bottom.

Stitching the plastic canvas shamrock

Sandwich the ribbon in between the Shamrock pieces. Continue whipstitching around, working around the ribbon coming out the top and the bottom. Make sure as you are stitching that the ribbon exit point is centered at the top and the bottom.

Assembling the plastic canvas shamrock wind spinner

Thread 8 pony beads on the ribbons, alternating between green and white. Thread the ribbon ends into the center of the small circular piece you cut out earlier.

Assembling the plastic canvas shamrock wind spinner

Twist each spoke slightly and use 2 ribbons per spoke to attach it to the circle, looping twice as before. (So each hole in the end of the spoke has a ribbon looped around it twice.) You want to sew the ribbon from the top of the spoke into the circle and then loop around again so that all strands of the ribbon come back out the center of the circle.

Repeat with the remaining spokes, evenly spacing them around the circle.

Tie a knot with all the ribbons at the bottom of the circle and cut ribbons to desired length.
